As comfortable and beautiful as our cottages are, you may eventually want to get out of bed! When you do, we suggest you take some time to feast your eyes on the beauty of the Cypress Creek Cottages property.

As beautiful as our property is, you may eventually want to head into town. There are lots of fun things to do in and around Wimberley!

Attractions

If you would like to climb your way closer to God, you can climb the highest peak in Wimberley - "Old Baldy". Trinity Chapel of Wimberley maintains "Old Baldy" as a quiet place for reflection or worship. It's a steep climb up 218 steps to a 1182 feet panoramic view around the surrounding counties. If you would like something a little more "down to earth", you can always go down Flite Acres Road just east of Wimberley to the river bridges of Hidden Valley and Little Arkansas. The cool shallow spring water is a joy to swim, wade, or just walk around in. After a day of water action, drive back to Wimberley and take a look around Flite Acres Road for all the deer on both sides of the road. If there's one thing Wimberley has, it's deer - and thousands of them!

Cycling
The Texas Hill Country is a favorite with cycling enthusiasts. Check with the Chamber of Commerce or Bicycle Shop for route suggestions. Bicycle rental is available in Wimberley at Hujsak Bicycle Shop at 512-847-5639 and in San Marcos at 512-392-9514.

Nature / Swimming / Hiking
While in and around Cypress Creek Cottages, you can swim in the cool refreshing waters of Cypress Creek, with water so clear you can see your toes wiggling in the neck deep water. There are several rope swings on the property that allow you to swing down the hill side into the water! Whether you want to swim and play with shouts and laughter or you want to silently gaze into the crystal clear water and meditate, Cypress Creek is a lovely place to be. Cypress Creek Falls is just a short distance away.

Swimming in Cypress Creek is welcomed. The water on the property is around 2-4 feet deep which is perfect for swimming or wading. We even have a rope swing next to the deeper warter. Moms with toddlers enjoy the shallower water near the small waterfall, usually about 18' deep. You can even bring your canoe, but to enjoy your canoe, you'll need to take it to the river which is about a 5-10 minute drive from the cottages. Guests are welcome to float in the creek with their pool float.

Schlitterbahn
Cypress Creek Cottages is about a 30 minute drive from the famous Schlitterbahn water park in New Braunfels. Schlitterbahn was voted the Best Waterpark on the Planet.

About Wimberley

Wimberley was designated as "One of America's Ten Best Small Towns" by Travel Holiday Magazine. Wimberley's unique culture is a refreshing blend of Austin urbane organic culture and Texas bubba culture. Where else can you order chicken fried steak with organic vegetables? Where else can you buy antique linens, pecan pie, Irish glass bead jewelry and cowboy artwork at the same town square? Wimberley offers it all.

Dining
There are several great places to eat just a short drive away from the cottages.

  • · Cypress Creek Cafe, a charming cafe at the Wimberley Town Square
  • · Casa Loma Tex-Mex
