Outdoor Adventures
If you’re looking to experience the natural views of the Texas Hill Country while also enjoying a good hike and a fun adventure, take your friends ziplining!
Wimberley Zipline Adventures is a zipline course that consists of 10 different ziplines, ranging in length from 150 to 900 feet. You’ll fly through the Hill Country at speeds up to 30 mph and spend about 1.5 to 2 hours enjoying this attraction. The ranch that houses the business also just opened a beer garden area where you can enjoy beer, cider, spritzers, and soda. Check out their website for updates and pricing.
For a Texas guys’ trip full of adventure, you can also check out the options for horseback riding and electric bike rentals.
Water Sports
Just a short drive from Wimberley is the San Marcos River, where you and the boys can spend time tubing. You can bring your own tubes or take advantage of the rentals.
Or head over to Martindale to Don’s Fish Camp, where you can camp and float on tubes between Austin and San Antonio. They have everything you need for a good time, including live DJs, food trucks, rope swings, tube rentals, snacks and drinks, and even sunscreen! The float normally takes 3-4.5 hours and costs $24 per person including tube rental.
If you’d rather just take a swim, take your buddies to one of the many swimming holes in the Texas Hill Country, all of which are less than an hour’s drive from Cypress Creek Cottages. A few of them, like Jacob’s Well, Blue Hole Regional Park, and Cypress Falls, are in Wimberley itself, offering the opportunity for a short hike or walk to these great spots.
Golf & Hiking
There are several great golf courses within 20 miles of Cypress Creek Cottages in Wimberley. One of the closest options is the Quicksand at Woodcreek Golf Club – an 18-hole course just two miles from Cypress Creek Cottages. Quicksand is a perfect spot for your casual games.
Less than an hour from downtown Wimberley in Blanco, you can find Vaaler Creek Golf Club, which boasts some of the best golf in the Texas Hill Country.
And since the Texas Hill Country is all about the outdoors, you can enjoy tons of great hiking trails and loops in the greater Wimberley area.
You can enjoy some scenery and history on Old Baldy Trail, just a quick jaunt from the Wimberley Town Square, where you can enjoy some good food, drinks, and more. Or try out another of our favorite hikes, which include Blue Hole Regional Park (where you can swim as well), Cypress Creek Nature Preserve, and more.
Food & Drink
No Texas Hill Country guys’ trip is complete without some good food and even better drinks. From authentic Texas cuisine to fine dining, rum tastings to breweries, the Hill Country has everything you need.
Click here for a list of our favorite Wimberley restaurants. And don’t miss out on one of the newest additions to Wimberley’s restaurant roster, Creekhouse – a “laid-back, modern restaurant and bar” that serves classic Texas comfort foods with an upscale twist. You can even enjoy Texas-brewed beer, fine wine, and craft cocktails.
And speaking of spirits, there’s plenty to go around. You can enjoy Texas-made rum at Cypress Creek Reserve or the many cocktails and spirits at Desert Door Distillery, check out one of the many wineries in the area, or root through the Hill Country to find your new favorite brewery.
Here are some of our top spots to have an ice-cold, Texas-brewed beer:
- Twisted X Brewing Company (located in Dripping Springs, 15 minutes from Cypress Creek Cottages)
- Middleton Brewing (San Marcos, 10 minutes away)
- Roughhouse Brewing (San Marcos)
- Acopon Brewing Co (Dripping Springs) – specializes in English brews with a wide beer variety
