Serve Hot Drinks
Hot drinks are a great way to stave off the chill in the air before, during, or after your winter wedding. You can serve hot chocolate or coffee for guests of all ages, and you can offer spiked options for those wishing to get into the wedding spirits.
One Fab Day has a great list of hot cocktails for your wedding, including a Smoke & Cinnamon Hot Whiskey Old Fashioned, Mulled Cider Sangria, and Coconut Chai Toddy. The hardest part will be choosing your favorite!
Tastes of Texas
Texas is known for a lot of things, including delicious Southern cooking. Even if you’re not from Texas, you can sprinkle in some delicious dishes that will let you get a little creative with wedding traditions.
BBQ and Tex-Mex menus are a great way to add some flair to your festivities. You can do something like a fajita bar or have a more casual affair by creating a wedding menu from our favorite backyard barbecue staples: brisket or ribs, sweet potato and apple casserole, and, of course, cornbread.
If you’d rather your meal be more of a nod to Texas traditions, you can always swap the big, expensive wedding cake for pecan pie or a delicious berry cobbler served with ice cream. And if the only Texas-inspired piece of your wedding is the gorgeous landscape, you can always try one of these warm desserts from Taste of Home to keep your guests cozy on that cool wedding day or night.
Another way to incorporate Texas flavors into your winter wedding is to serve beer or wine that was made in the Texas Hill Country. There are tons of wineries, breweries, and distilleries in the area for you to choose from. You can even bring your spouse-to-be to the area and have a nice pre-wedding getaway to sample food and drinks from local venues. You get to make progress on wedding to-dos while sneaking in a little one-on-one fun with your love!
Arrange Lodging for Guests
The winter months bring a special beauty to the area, but it’s not without its challenges. If your guests are traveling any number of miles from home to celebrate with you, it’s always polite to arrange lodging options for them. Cypress Creek Cottages can help you do both. We are a small wedding venue with 12 private cabins available to you and your guests. Planning a wedding is exhausting and having it at Cypress Creek Cottages can save you the time and headaches of trying to arrange a venue, lodging options, and possibly even transportation to and from the ceremony, reception, and lodging venues.
Make Your Wedding Favors Weather-Appropriate
While you are under no obligation to provide your winter wedding guests with favors, many couples opt to do this in the form of a small, often either edible or reusable item. Umbrellas, ponchos, throws, scarves, and other cozy favors can be of use to your loved ones during the wedding celebrations and after.
